INQUIRY-BASED LEARNING
We believe that inquiry is a powerful tool to learn about the world around us. Our curriculum follows the Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework of the International Baccalaureate (IB). Learning in the PYP is a holistic learning experience that integrates socio-emotional, physical and cognitive development. We deliver the curriculum through Units of Inquiry which integrates all of the main subjects (including Maths, Language, Social Studies, Science, Art, Music, Physical Education, and German). Our teachers are highly qualified and understand how to best support children achieve their potential through inquiry-based learning. At the heart of the IBPYP is a commitment to using inquiry as a vehicle for learning.

LIFELONG LEARNERS
IS Ruhr prepares all students to take positive action in an interconnected and changing world. We encourage them to show respect for themselves, others and the environment and to enjoy learning throughout their lives, so that they become responsible lifelong learners committed to consider multiple perspectives.
We also believe in the importance of self-management skills including the development of independent learning. This takes place in our supportive and collaborative learning environment which encourages our students to learn how to self-regulate and gain essential autonomous learning skills.
EMBRACING INDIVIDUALITY AND COMMUNITY
We understand children learn and develop at different rates and in different ways. That is why we give students opportunities to have integrated and stand-alone experiences in German, Art, Music and Physical Education. Our students come from diverse cultures and linguistic backgrounds whom we support to become internationally minded people. We nurture each child’s natural curiosity and acknowledge differences in developmental stages respecting each child as an individual and as a group member. Learning in an international environment, with many different nationalities represented, offers a rich and advantageous experience for all the children.
